In addtion to typical sculpting tools, just about anything can be used to help you sculpt! We'll cover the more common tools at some point as well as making your own.
This is to help you get started and become more familiar with sculpting (it's how I started).
Here are a few simple ideas to help make sculpting easier. The important part is to look around you for things you can use and experiment with. The way you use these things (techniques) will also shape the clay and produce varying styles and effects.
To begin with you can just prod around to get a feel. You can then try strokes, sweeping motions, contours and other techniques in combinations to advance your skills.
Of course there are many other things you could use; Stones, Comb, Fabrics, Leaves, Sticks....
....or if you fancied you could make your own tools (which we'll cover in another tutorial)!
